Mike Burkholder made the jump from service manager at Hunt Motors Ford Dealership in Ephrata to “Downtown Clay” in 1986 when he and Susan Burkholder purchased Foundry Tire (aka “Clay Tire”). At that time Foundry Tire was a tire store only. Many of Mike’s loyal customers from Hunts made the move to “Downtown Clay” with him, and still come to Foundry Tire for auto service to this day. Since that time, Mike and Susan have expanded the business from a 1-bay shop to the 5 bay shop that it is today. As the business has grown, one thing has remained constant, and that is Foundry Tire’s commitment to provide quality auto service with the customer’s well being as top priority.
Prior to being a tire dealership, Foundry Tire was the site of the Clay Casting Company, an iron foundry dating back to the mid 1900’s. “Downtown Clay” has changed a great deal over the years, however it maintains it’s small town appeal. You can grab a bite to eat at Pepe’s Pizza or some desert at Fox Meadow’s Creamery after doing some shopping at the Clay Bookstore. Whatever brings you to “Downtown Clay”, you are sure to find smiling faces and friendly people eager to serve you.
